Our client was dissatisfied with their existing office tea machine system, as both its design and functionality failed to meet user expectations.
The previous system was mechanically built and offered only limited features. It appeared outdated and could not meet the demands of a modern office environment.

Moreover, leaving tea for extended periods led to a loss of taste and quality, and the system provided no alerts to the users.
The client therefore requested a modern, reliable, and intelligent control board that could address these shortcomings.

Our team completely redesigned both the hardware and software to create a functional and visually appealing solution.

The new system consists of the following components:

  • Hardware design (PCB / control board)

  • Integration of sensors, pump, valve, and heating control

Thanks to this setup, the machine can automatically refill water, intelligently control temperature, monitor the brewing process, and be operated via a user-friendly interface—perfect for the modern office environment.


Technical Details ⚙️

Hardware and PCB Design

The control board includes:

  • Float switch for water level monitoring
  • Temperature sensor for PID regulation
  • Water pump and valve control
  • Thyristor for heating regulation

All digital and high-current lines are isolated to ensure safe operation.
The design is durable, low-maintenance, and suitable for industrial-grade applications.

Motor and Actuator Control

  • The water pump automatically refills the internal tank.
  • The valve enables connection to an external water source.
  • Both components are controlled by the embedded software based on time and water level.
  • Malfunctions are detected, and users are automatically notified.

Sensor Integration

  • The float switch continuously monitors the water level.
  • The temperature sensor provides feedback to the PID algorithm to maintain a constant brewing temperature.
  • An additional timer/software module alerts users if tea has been left standing too long.

Communication

  • Internal communication via digital lines
  • Expandable UART or I²C interfaces for external devices
  • HMI screen communicates with the control board over a fast serial interface

HMI Interface

  • Displays temperature, brewing time, and water level in a clear format
  • Allows selection of different brewing programs (classic, strong, mild)
  • Simplified menus for intuitive operation
  • Alerts for low water levels or stale tea

Embedded Software

  • Synchronized control of all hardware components
  • PID algorithm maintains a constant temperature of 100 °C
  • Dynamic brewing programs based on temperature and time
